Homemade coffee scrub

Homemade coffee scrub: I’ll be honest I’ve just discovered the word “scrub”. We used to say “peeling” or simply “exfoliating” masks or creams. But I like it, sounds cooler that way 😉

Anyway, whether you call it scrubs or peeling today you’ll see how I make mine with a zero waste recipe.

I just going to note here the ingredients, you know, on my recipe journal.

1 tsp salt

4 tsp sugar

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp coconut oil

4 tsbp Coffee grounds

I also added a capsule of Vit E as preservative and 3 drops of tea tree

And voilà, a #zerowaste scrub! You’ll probably already have all those ingredients at home, so you are ready to try it!

Postcards from Costa Brava

Our last getaway was so refreshing. I’ve always thought that holidays on August were stressful and crowded. I am slowly discovering that’s not always true, even if you want to go to a coast destination.

This time we found a quiet place, near to Barcelona, with beautiful turquoise waters and we have our best time there.

Vilassar de mar.

We stayed there

We played there

We eat here and those

Upcycled bonnet and scrunchie

Upcycled bonnet and scrunchie: You probably remember the matched bonnets that I posted not long-time ago, the embroidered fabric was upcycled from a shirt.

When I posted on Instagram a picture of them, one follower asked me if it was possible to buy a bonnet like this for her daughter.

As I am not a shop or a brand, I was extremely happy that someone was interested on my work, so I decided to offer her one bonnet.

And I love this one because I realized that this pattern allow to use the bonnet on both sides,so you have a reversible bonnet.

I used a printed dress and a broderie anglaise t-shirt, one different fabric for each side.

I wanted to add something for mamas too, as I love matching outfits with my daughters. With a leftover I made a scrunchie, this way you can play twinning with your baby.

And I love the result because is really handy, the white side of the bonnet is perfect for summer, you can match it with everything, and if you want a little pop of color you just need to change the side.

I made another one for my baby because, the reversible way to wear it is so useful! I’ll show you on another post!;)

DIY macramé feather

DIY macramé feather! Macrame is something that I’d love to learn, even if is something that needs some time to work on. I’ve just been looking for easy projects on Pinterest in order to start to learn about it.

The macrame feathers seemed easy enough to start and the result is pretty nice. So I’ve tried to make them.

My #zerowaste way to make them is using some rope that I already have at home, and the result is a little different than the other macramé projets, much original let’s say.

Here is the only knot needed for those feathers:

I am going to make some more feathers for another diy project, hope that it will turn as I imagine! I’ll show you soon!

What do you think about it! You can create beautiful wall decors with them, keychains etcthey make a wonderful handmade gift too!

Visiting Valensole

Visiting Valensole: New places, new scents, new summer postcards from another beautiful French place.

Valensole

Valensole it’s not only about lavender: wheat and sunflowers dance together there, and it’s also about old French towns, lakes and rivers around, refreshing sunsets and peaceful sounds.

We visited Valensole because I have always dreamed about visiting the lavender fields, and it’s not so far away from home, so we thought we could book two nights there and visit with the girls. It was a challenge because the baby is only 3 months old, but we followed her routines and everything went well.

I just took quick snaps with my phone that I wanted to share here, so I can remember that family weekend.

We went to Valensole mid-July, and I’d say that it’s a bit too late if you want to see the lavender in full bloom. When we arrived the colors started to fade but it was equally beautiful!

The second weekend of the month it was the fair of lavender, so we found a small artisans and farmers market: they sold lavender soap, lavender bouquets and celebrate the start of the harvesting. It’s a great time to visit although the blossoms are starting to end.

We went to the restaurant and loved the festive mood, garlands and music were so nice and it was even a concert planned for Saturday night.

We don’t like to travel during the second fortnight of July because the crowd is really important, but that weekend wasn’t full of tourists so it was really enjoyable.

The colorful old town was so beautiful and the front door of the stores were so cute.

The fields surround everything and you can visit the cooperatives and buy honey, essential oils, fragrance etc

We couldn’t resist to the lavender ice creams, they were so good!

And we visited the surroundings where you can find great views. Not far from here you can enjoy the lake “Sainte Croix ” and the must see “gorges du Verdon” longing this beautiful emerald river.

DIY pom-pom ice cream cones

DIY pom-pom ice cream cones: The best part of summer? Probably all the ice cream!

And I found the perfect one: sugar, gluten and dairy free!?

Just kidding, but one thing is true your kids will love to play with them or crafting to make them.

We can’t stop playing the ice cream truck now. ?

Below you’ll find more pictures, about the how-to!

You just need two toilet paper rolls and some spare yarn.

Roll the yarn around the paper rolls and then knot the ball, cut the edges and shape your pom-pom.

I also used scraps of fabric to create the cones, these ones are so similar to real ones the girls were amazed!

Now we have another tool to create fun roleplay!
