Homeschooling

If you are following me on Instagram, you will probably already know that we are going to homeschool again this year, and I am glad to have found https://raisinglittleshoots.com/ it’s going to be one of our main programs, with their weekly themes, and charlotte Mason inspired.

Exploring Nature With Children is a complete, year-long curriculum designed to guide you, step by step, through an entire calendar year of nature study. Completely self-contained, this book has all the information you need to make nature study happen regularly for your family.”

So I bought their book and we started the first theme last week, follow them on Instagram @raisinglittlehoots and their hashtag #exploringnaturewithchildren

Last week theme was “seeds”, so we have studied the life cycle of a seed with an egg carton seed tray, and I wanted to share some pictures of it?

We tried with some peppers, tomatoes, red beans, white beans, lentils, lemons and apples, and here is the result!:

Now they are all ready to be planted in pots! it’s a great activity for toddlers, and also #zerowaste because we are using the egg boxes?will Show you more about them soon! hope you enjoyed the pictures Xx

Evolutionary clothing

Evolutionary clothing: Just one more month left of the @slowfashionseason challenge! But after that we are not going to stop, we want to keep those habits and we’ll try to buy less and in a sustainable way. What I like about @slowfashionseason is that they don’t forget topics like racism, food (switch to a sustainable diet, link in bio to join! ) and travels. They are actually launching a slow travel campaign (aviation is responsible for over 5%of global warming) check my stories for more info!
I made that overalls two years ago from a woman’s dress, the funny thing is that I made  long braces and I can adjust when the baby grows up, changing the elastic band you have evolutive clothing ?

Hope you liked that evolutionary clothing idea!

Milk bath

A milk bath: an easy idea for a baby photo session. Today I am sharing here some pictures of my last Instagram picture, the baby milk bath. We are now on vacation and a bit MIA, but planning a lot of more posts coming soon!

For that milk bath I just added some tbsp of powder milk to the water and then use the flowers of a bouquet: it was starting to whiter so instead of throw them away I thought that a bath would be better!

It makes a great sensory play for the baby, they love to play with these flowers, the petals, the steams, and obviously it’s great for their skin too.

Always remember to use quality products, fair trade flowers without chemicals and ecological plantbased milk for us . And of course always watch your baby!

Hope you liked the photo session idea and the photos that I made! Find more on my Instagram @scraps.and.coffee.grounds

See you there!xx

Upcycled bloomer from a skirt!

Upcycled bloomer from a skirt! Today I want to show you that floral onesie that I upcycled for my little girl from a skirt that I thrifted but was too small for me!

That little one, always multi-tasking! I also bet she thinks that naps are a waste of time?15months old are definitely really busy ones! Onesie upcycled by me ? wishing you a great week ??

It’s an easy pattern and as the skirt was long enough I had all the fabric that I needed! And it’s actually a soft fabric perfect for summer, and love the floral print!

What do you think about it? Hope you like it! Sara

Dango recipe!

Dango recipe: During lockdown I finally tried a recipe that I wanted to make at home for so long: dango is a Japanese desert with mochi, those soft balls made with rice flour. The recipe is actually really easy and funny for kids, because you need to make those little balls, put them into the boiling water and then let cool.

I used 60gr of rice flour, make three separate parts, and then I added 3tbp of matcha to one part, 1tbsp of beet juice to another part and let the third part just with flour. Shape small balls with all the mixtures while the water starts to boil. Add the balls to. The water boiling some minutes and then remove from water and let cool.

Dango recipe

I don’t add sugar, they are already so tasty and yummy!

Have you ever tried? Hope you will with that dango recipe ?
