Beewax wraps

Lately I am posting quick recipes but those are so simple that I just want to write and quick add them to this journal.

I’m not even post them with great pictures, just shoot while I make the recipe and post in on the blog ASAP. That makes me feel productive, I can check more goals of my to-do list and the blog still update.

You know “better done than perfect”, right?

I also realize that posting frequently and sharing on Pinterest and Instagram it’s the best way to improve on those apps ( I just raised the 10k views/month on Pinterest and that’s a good begining)

Long history short, this one was a super easy #diy, less than an hour and it’s done!

You’ll just need leftovers of fabric and beeswax beads.

Choose the dimensions of your wraps, cut the fabric (if you sew the edges much better)

Put them on the baking tray and distribute the wax beads all over the surface of the fabric (more or less one pearl per cm2)

5 or 8 minutes on the oven ( 50°c) or just watch for the wax to melt.

Why you need those beeswax wraps?

In order to avoid the plastic in the kitchen, you’ll be protecting your leftovers of meals and our planet with less plastic. A sandwich on the go? Just take your stylish wrap and you’ll have #zerowaste to throw.

And using ecological beeswax you are protecting the bees too, so that’s a big win for all of us.

DIY matching bracelets

Diy matching bracelets

DIY matching bracelets: twining with my daughter again?.

I have a ribbon with a special meaning, it’s a sort of amulet that you can wear all your pregnancy wishing for all to be fine (it’s an old tradition of the city where I was born)

I was looking for a way to wear it all day long and a bracelet is the simplest way and also is super easy to do it by yourself.

So I made two of them and I gave one to my daughter.

She is super happy to wear our DIY matching bracelets with mommy; we usually don’t give her any sort of jewels but this time I guess she understands the meaning of twining with me and this way she can play imitation with a simple accessory, plus she helped to made it so I love that too.

Strawberry yogurts

Today I want to share the strawberry yoghurts. Maybe a recipe of cow milk yoghurt won’t be much welcome this days, the vegan era is here and most of people are looking for dairy free recipes, vegan or sugar free…

I try to avoid all kind of processed sugars, we buy our groceries at the weekly local market in order to privilege local and seasonal products, we are also on the #slowwaste moving trying to avoid plastics, or looking for #crueltyfree products.

But we do eat meat, two meals per week . As I said, locals markets are the best way that we found to buy it, even if we try to only make less than a half of meals with animal proteins, we choose to not completely avoid them and pick butchers who respect as most as possible the animal comfort. This way we are also sure that we don’t have preservatives and other toxic additives.

Same thing concerning the milk, we aren’t big “dairy product consumers” but since my daughter isn’t breastfeeded anymore (we did it for one year) we think that is important to keep her having at least one portion of “animal milk” per day.

That’s the reason why I made my own yoghurts with (usually) cow milk (sometimes I use goat milk). Always ecological or local for the same reasons: animal comfort and respect, and less toxic I, or on that case, “thirds passengers” like antibiotics, pesticides…

So that’s the reason why I am adding a cow milk yogurt recipe on my “journal recipe”.

I had the best gift from my colleagues at work a few years ago: a yoghurt machine, who turned to be perfect for me because is #zerowaste: you have your reusable yoghurt glasses and you know exactly what are you eating (and it’s cheaper than buy them at the grocery store).

It takes 5 minutes to prepare and then the machine will work alone, you’ll just have to put the yogurts on the fridge 😉

Usually I don’t add sugar on those recipes, but it was the first time that I try to add fruits and I wanted to be sure that it would work, and this one was the easiest recipe that I found.

As we almost never use sugar I thought that it wasn’t that bad if we put some unrefined brown sugar for once.

* The “how-to” is quite easy, as you just heat the fruits with the sugar, mix them and then add the sugar and the milk with one yoghurt ( you can use one of your homemade yogurt).

Strawberry yogurts

* Ingredients:

200 gr strawberries

50 gr unrefined brown sugar

1 yoghurt

1 l milk

Homemade yogurt

Homemade strawberry yoghurts

That’s it, I usually program 15 hours on the machine.

I’ll keep looking for another recipe without sugars because we loved so much the strawberry flavor! When the season of strawberries starts, I try to freeze as much as I can, this way I can have “fresh” fruits all year long.

DIY dishwasher tablets

DIY dishwasher tablets: I already shared here some #diy recipes, most of them of cosmetics. But almost all household products can be easily done at home, with simply ingredients. Here it goes another one easy DIY idea.

Why you should make your own dishwasher tablets?

In order to avoid toxics, harmful for the environment and for our own health ( plus, is cheaper when homemade).

Indeed, dishwasher and soaps end polluting water so we need to be careful about what kind of household products we use.

They also use plastic in their packaging which we should also avoid as much as we can.

Making your own tablets means that you’ll avoid plastics and use only natural ingredients which is better for your health too.

So today I am going to share the recipe of dishwasher tablets. It’s pretty simple and very similar to the bath bombs on my precedent post (don’t switch them!?).-Ingredients:

  • 60 gr sodium bicarbonate
  • 60 gr caustic soda flakes
  • 60 gr citric acid
  • Water
  • 20 drops Citron essential oil

*How-to:Mix the sodium bicarbonate, the soda flakes and the citric acid. Then add the drops of essential oil, and finally add water. You must now make small pieces (the ice cube tray is perfect for that, but I used here a cookie mold).Leave to dry for a few hours, and that’s it, they are ready to use! So simple!

The recipes that I use to make for cosmetics or household products need to be simple, and ingredients easy to find. So I don’t feel overwhelmed about complicated instructions or long process that I won’t be able to plan on our weekly routines. And these tablets are the best alternative for me! Unconditional love

Motherhood, the change that heals you, the strongest love that you can feel.

Sometimes #instagram can teach you so much… I met there beautiful people, I am (slowly) improving my English, I am more organized, or working on my creativity skills, and sometimes it’s about little things like this quote, I’ve never heard it and I really love it, this sums up so well my motherhood journey ??

DIY Valentine’s day gift idea

Diy gift idea for Valentine's day

DIY valentine’s day gift idea: I have mixed feelings about Valentine’s day… I like the fact that we can celebrate love, all kinds of love, one specific day of the year, even if we shouldn’t wait to that date to show people that we love them…but I hate the consumerism coming with that kind of celebrations. Sometimes I have the feeling that it’s all about buy something, no matter what…

Anyway we have our own way to celebrate Valentine’s day, it’s usually a week where we have a break so we can enjoy holidays, and we use to travel somewhere, not just because it’s Valentine’s day, but it turns to be a great way to celebrate our love.

As I like all #DIY projects I wanted to try one handmade gift that I’ve found some time ago on Pinterest.

Personalized gifts are for me the best way if you want to show someone that you love him/her.

So I show you here small present, but that can means a lot. Is sweet and a lovely decor.

How to:

You just need a frame, a maps app and a printing machine (or a photographer/app to print your choices)

Easy diy gift idea for Valentine's day

1.Choose some special spots/places you have shared with the beloved, like the first kiss, or where you met.
