DIY witch costumes!

DIY witch costumes! Another day, another costume? OK ! What about another upcycling? I made witch skirts from… Black mosquito nets?

Those mosquito nets were cluttering our closet so I thought it could be funny to make those skirts for Halloween, perfect for those little witches?

A really easy way to make those skirts is just take the bigger possible rectangle of fabric, fold it in the middle (horizontally) and sew a steam next to the fold, it will be the waist, just add the elastic there and sew another steam(vertically) in order to finish the skirt.

And that’s how we have our sustainable DIY witch costumes: hand-me-downs hats, diy brooms, upcycled skirts for the girls and just a regular black skirt for me?

Dress up!

Another day, another costume? OK ! What about another upcycling? I made witch skirts from… Black mosquito nets?

Autumn tree craft activity

Autumn tree craft activity: A few things we have been working on during the last week of #exploringnaturewithchildren: the “Autumn tree”.

For these activities we collected different kind of leaves,we bought the first pumpkin of the season and carved it (first time for us!), we made this tree with lentils and dried leaves, and we also recreated these Halloween ghosts, painting leaves with white and drawing faces on it ?.

How cute they are? We are obsessed with them at the moment!

To carve the pumpkin with used autumn cutters this way we could add the shapes to more trays and plays. It’s a great activity for fine motor skills and we made some counting practice. We learnt about seeds and leaves and the cycle of plants which the girls particularly love. And we also enjoy walks collecting these treasures for homeschool activities,it’s so lovely!

Gathering Leaves by Robert Frost

Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.

I make a great noise
Of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.

But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face.

I may load and unload
Again and again
Till I fill the whole shed,
And what have I then?

Next to nothing for weight,
And since they grew duller
From contact with earth,
Next to nothing for color.

Next to nothing for use.
But a crop is a crop,
And who’s to say where
The harvest shall stop?

Fawn DIY costume

Fawn DIY costume: As Halloween is coming soon I’ll be sharing easy costume ideas that you can make without buying anything new, just with random clothes and items that you probably already own, and the first one has some makeup involved!

First of all we looked for brown clothes, a fake fur cushion or fake fur collar from coats, DIY fabric flowers and make up. And we made the ears with two small buns.

I sew the fake fur to the Tshirt and made a headband with the fabric flowers,for a whimsical aesthetic. I used white makeup ,orange and black as well. I tried

As you can see I am not a makeup professional but it was a funny mommy&daughter moment and the result doesn’t have to be perfect to have a cute costume ?I hope you like it! Xx

Upcycled wizard of oz costume

Upcycled wizard of oz costume: Easy costumes ideas for kids????????

I made this costume upcycling one of my dresses: with red shoes, two braids and a basket you’ll have Dorothy from the magician of oz, we can add apron a book and hi, Belle! Two costumes with one dress, my daughter loves both of them!

I also used a fake fur from a coat collar to create a lion bonnet for my little one. Added ears and made a cap with spare fabric.

You can find a lot of ideas in your wardrobe, mixing different pieces and with a bit of creativity, a more sustainable way to celebrate Halloween.
