DIY matching outfits

DIY matching outfits: but first of all, Happy New year! Yes, this is the first post of the year, and I am happy to choose an upcycled project as I want to keep improving our #sustainable lifestyle this year, and #reusereducerecycle still a great motto, right?

DIY matching outfits

I ( almost ) only buy second hand items now (at flea markets or online @vinted is a great platform), and we are a lot more conscious about what we buy: “love what you have” .

And I keep sewing from time to time and enjoying those upcycled outfits. This one comes from a thrifted dress and I made three matching outfits, for my daughters and I.

DiY matching outfits

I chose the easy way, using the skirt part as fabric for my daughters outfits and the top for me.

Twoo bloomers for them, one bonnet and a ribbon, these are all very easy patterns.

Postcards from Ibiza

Today I’ll send here some “Postcards from Ibiza”. Ibiza is a very special place for us, for so many reasons:

A part of our family lives there and we are lucky enough to visit them once or twice a year.

But I’ve never shared my camera shots of there, I don’t really know why.

This time I am going to post some snaps, quick views, postcards from my phone.

My own way.

-November blooms

Autumn and winter are great seasons to to visit Ibiza, as you can see there are lots of bougainvilleas ans other flowers, and the weather still really nice during autumn.

– Some treats. You can’t go there and try their aioli, choose your favorite tostada (tomato and jamón serrano Will always be my fav) with olives. The riced are amazing and I love their typical desserts”flao” ( a sort of cheese cake with mint,so delicious) and “greixonera” (more like a custard)

-Some sunsets. You will enjoy beautiful sunsets (and sunrises) there!

-San Juan y cala San Vicent. There are so many beautiful towns with white houses and stunning views to the mountains full of pines and olive trees.

-Santa Gertrudis. You can’t go there and skip the restaurant”can costa” their sandwiches are so good and you will love a walk in it’s streets and lovely small traditional boutiques.

– We always go the the beach, enjoy the sunshine and the sand, even if the water is colder in winter.

Human anatomy felt set

Human anatomy felt set! Do it yourself!

I was looking for a pedagogical and fun way to learn the fonctions of the body.
I wanted to make a children activity playful enough, no-screen related (my daughter is 3 yo) available for start learning about some parts of the body.
So the felt set was the first and easiest idea that I found.

We drew together the different parts of the digestive system and other organs ( brain, heart, lungs…)

Cut them and add adhesive velcros on each part.

That’s it, ready to play! You can make different studies with it and add car words, learn about the different fonctions etc

Hope tou like it xx

Oat apple cookies

Remember the recipe of vegetal drinks? Some time ago I shared the way you can make your own rice drink, but lately I tried the oat drink and it’s my favourite now, because it tastes so yummy and besides I can make #zerowaste oat cookies for my daughters with the leftover of oat from the drink.

That’s so useful now that the baby has started the complementary feeding, and I can give her healthy oat bars with fruits.

So I start mixing a cup of oat with warm water (not hot but warm)

Then I filter and fill a glass bottle with the oat drink. Put it on the fridge and that’s all. You can save it for three days and add a sweetener if you want to.

Its really easy and quick, the oat doesn’t need a soak time so i don’t need to “plan” the recipe.

Then I mix the filtered oat with mashed banana or grated apple.

I make bars or cookies with the mixture and oven for ten minutes.

It’s very useful because we believe that the Baby led weaning is the best way to start with solid food, and those oat bars are great, healthy and the baby loves them (and so we do)

Handmade Birth gift idea

Handmade Birth gift idea: Here there goes just a gift idea that I loved to sew for a newborn, so easy and useful (I also made one for my baby and we used it a lot).

I started with a rope bag that will serve later as a diaper pouch or to put into it a spare clothing.

Then I added a sun bonnet, a matching bloomer, and a pacifier clip.

These are really easy patterns (you can find them for free) and they will be handy for the fourth trimester.

I want to sew another kit, prepping the winter, I just need to think about the fabric ?.

Hope you liked it xX

DIY Ring sling

DIY read sling: I was going to share this post as one DIY project, but it is actually also a zero waste one because I actually used a bedsheet fabric.

In perfect shape, just unused because the color didn’t fit anymore with our bedroom.

So I am happy to finally have sew my own “handmade-upcycled” ring sling ?.

I’ve just need 2×2 meters of fabric. Fold it and sew it inside out, leaving one of the edges free to turn the fabric. Add the rings and sew this edge to the rest of the fabric

That’s all, just 4 linear seams.

I am still learning to use it and wrap the baby perfectly with this type of sling but I like it so much because I can carry my baby on the side.

You can find a lot of tutorials, but you mainly need to pay attention to these points :

-Close enough to kiss

-Rings high: corsage position,

-knees higher than the bum

-Don’t twist the fabric

Can’t wait to use it and carry my baby this way ?.

Hope you liked it !xX
