DIY bath bombs

DIY bath bombs: Here is it, I finally tried the bath bombs, and it worked pretty well! So I am sharing with you the recipe because it’s really cool to make our own bath bombs! And also a fun activity for kids (under supervision of course).

The effervescent effect amazed my girl and it’s a great stem activity. And it’s great for skin too, after that bath my skin was so soft, the smell is just perfect and I am not going to annoying you by talking about all the benefits of the lavender essential oil.

And it’s a great occasion to offer you some “me-time”: lately we hear a lot about self-care and self-love, and all those parents that are feeling overwhelmed and never do some “me-time”…. sometimes it’s hard to plan this out but it’s something important to do, in order to feel better we will also care better of our family: fill your cup first!

But above all, we need to teach our children that self-care is important,is not selfish, it’s just the beginning of a self-love journey.

So take some time for you,or why not, now that Valentine’s is coming, offer those bomb balls to your partner or someone you love!

Ingredients:

220 gr sodium bicarbonate

110 gr cytric acid

110 gr corn flour

2 tbsp of water

3 tbsp vegetable oils (your choice, almond oil it’s perfect for this)

20 drops of essential oil (I used lavender for that)

Handmade bath bombs

How to:

Mix the sodium bicarbonate, the cornstarch and the acid cytric in a bowl ( the dry ingredients).

In a second bowl you’ll mix the liquid ingredients: water, vegetable oil and the essential oil.

Then you’ll put the “liquid” bowl into the “powder” bowl (don’t wait too much for mix).

That’s it! you can now make your bath bombs, just add some water if you need to.

I used a tea filter colander and a mold for cake, both worked so well.

Mold them with the shape of tour choice and let dry for a few hours.

I now that baths aren’t that much eco-friendly, but if we are being respectful to our planet every day, I guess we can sometimes treat ourselves

Healthy crêpes recipe

Healthy crêpes recipe: There is a sweet celebration in France called la Chandeleur, It’s the first Saturday of February and it’s all about cook (and eat) french crepes.

I want to celebrate all these fun traditions with my daughter, also because its a way to work on sensory activities and psychomotricity skills while we cook, and most important of all, spent great quality family time all together.

But I want to avoid bleached flours, refined sugars and why not dairies, so I tried another dairy free recipe.

I googled and I found a nice recipe on www.healthyfoodcreation.fr

You just need:

50 gr half complete flour

40 gr corn flour

5 gr coconut oil

120 gr coconut milk

2 eggs

10 gr agave syrup

How-to:

First mix the flours, then add the eggs and the syrup.

Add the coconut milk, mix and finally add the coconut oil.

That’s all, you can now heat the dough in parts in a non-stick pan!

A healthy way to celebrate with our daughter and the bump?.

Happy Candlemas !

Human labels

I don’t like it when sometimes I hear “how calm she is, it must be so easy for you” : no one can know, except us, if it is really easy or difficult for us life as parents…but I was recently told “how is your pregnancy going, with a girl as moved as she is ” and I didn’t like it either, because my daughter doesn’t stop for a second but she’s neat and careful and in no way I would complain about a difficult pregnancy blaming the newborn, whatever her character ….

So why I don’t like both of opposite comments, am I picky? no, I just don’t like labels and less in children. If we want respectful adults towards others let’s stop labeling children, and even less without knowing them, based on some isolated behavior outside their environment. We are getting so used to tagging and putting hashtags that we use them on children, let’s leave this stuff it for social networks …

Handmade gift idea

Handmade gift idea: a present made with love.

As a physiotherapist I usually receive some presents from nice people who like to trust on me; most of patients offer chocolates on Christmas season and now that I am pregnant I thought that it would be nice to also show my gratitude to all the medical stuff following this pregnancy.

Handmade gift

But I wanted to offer something different (even if I love chocolate!).

Then I just have the idea of a little “beauty bucket”, with some of my favorite diy products.

DIY gift idea

I decided to put on a small basket an eyelashes serum, a shampoo bar, a lipbalm and one of those effervescent bathballs. All homemade of course, just with healthy and natural ingredients.

What’s in the basket?

* If you didn’t miss my lasts posts, you already know the recipe of the bar shampoo ( you can find it here )

DIY shampoo bar

* The serum eyelashes is so simple, I just apply castor oil on my eyelashes every night, you just need the right contener for a better application (I buy it here ).

Eyelashes serum

* You can find the lipbalm recipe here.

Diy Lip balm

* And las but not least, the effervescent bath bombs. It’s the first time that I try this recipe so I am going to write more about it soon: it was a little hard to make them but I finally did it and now they seem to work, I just need to offer me a bathtime to check it?.

Diy bath bomb

(I’ve tried to recreate a lollipop just to be sure that it won’t be broken ?).

These are all the items, at first I wanted to find a cute basket but then I found this jar and I loved the idea because is safer and still on the zero waste philosophy.

DIY gift idea

I really hope you enjoyed it, that could be a good gift for Valentine’s day, now that February is almost here! Christmas, birthdays or other celebrations ?.

Word of the year: couples edition

Word of the year: couples edition. I was talking about new year resolutions on my last post, and as we still on January, posts about resolution lists and goals keep appearing on my Instagram feed and Pinterest suggestions.

But last year I heard about a concept pretty interesting, because is less overwhelming than the “old” way of choosing a long list of resolutions.

The world of the year consists in choosing only just one word for the whole year, helping you to find a gradual evolution towards the person you want to be, or the goal that you want to achieve.

It’s much easier, unifies your goals and allows flexibility. This way you can focus on a mantra or a motto, and you’ll focus on it.

And just like this I thought that it could be interesting to apply that method on our couple.

Work, routine, pregnancy or parenthood might be huge challenges for a couple. So it might be interesting to choose that word together in order to focus on a healthy relationship.

The way it works:

Step 1:

– Brainstorming of words. Sit down together and make a list of words.

Step 2:

– Answer the questions below finding a commun response.

  • Our fears_________
  • What we can do together on the everday routine________
  • We can’t wait for_______
  • Our one big project of the year___
  • We want to travel to________

Step 3:

– Choose the word that unifies these thoughts across all your couple goals.

Maybe that template can help you to organize all these steps.

Also I found some helpful tips that we must all have in mind when we are lost in routine or bad couple habits:

  1. Do good things together (charity, benevolence…)
  2. Eat mindfully ( try to have a healthy way to get your groceries and other home products, cook together healthy recipes, eat together if you can…)
  3. Exercise together ( go for a walk together, some hiking, a footing, some yoga…)
  4. Kiss and hug at least once a day!
  5. Treat your partner as well as you treat your friends ( you won’t talk to friends looking your phone, you always listen to them and give them some tips, you compliment them…then do the same with your beloved one, she/he deserves it more!)

Zero waste gift wrapping

Zero waste gift wrapping: the best present you can offer to your beloved ones.

First of all: Happy New year to all of you. I really hope your year started great!

Everybody is talking here about new year’s resolutions, goals, deadlines…

I don’t like that, that means lots of pressure for me… I just want to grow and care less about what people could think, love me more and try to focus on positive sides and silver linings.

Of course, I want to keep in my life the slow and zero waste attitude, improving it, and for the first time I applied that under the Christmas tree this year.

When you wrap gifts you can also choose the respectful way, without plastic or tons of paper.

I saw fabric wraps really beautiful out there, but personally I don’t have enough scraps and I didn’t want to buy fabric in purpose.

Some old foulards can work well too.

But I tried the simple way with old newspaper, holding it with rope instead of tape.

Newspaper gift wrapping

Sustainable gift wrapping

Greener holidays

We usually buy and collect newspapers from travels, love different languages ones and it’s fun to look back and read what happened during our travels in these places. But we can’t keep them all,so I thought that a repurpose would be lovely.

Newspaper gift wrapping

I use them as paper wrapping and added rustic rope and a little twig of the Christmas tree. You can also use dried oranges: I am pretty proud of the result!

So yes, I think that’s a new Christmas tradition as I don’t want to keep using traditional foiled paper, the zerowaste gift wrapping has more attitude and it’s perfect for our planet so why don’t you try it too?
