Thrifted

So the great news that I wanted to share about @slowfashionseason are that the movement is now permanent, that’s why they have changed the logo to #slowfashionmovement  #SFM and you can also check the link in their bio to discover their new slow fashion manifesto. Because slow fashion never goes out of season!
Wearing my thrifted top here in the “alto minho” , between the vineyards we found some apples too?

Portuguese Road trip

Portuguese Road trip: From time to time I like to share some quick snaps of my phone, those we usually I quickly take travelling, just to remember a place or because we’ve just discovered a funny journey treasure, with a touch of whimsical edit. Those make me think about vintage postcards, that’s why I called those series “postcards from…”

This time we went on a roadtrip, from France to Portugal, so I want to share today the first part, with some Spanish spots (we cross the North of Spain to reach the Portuguese border)

Pontevedra, Santander,Ribadeo or Santiago de Compostela were some of the Spanish places we enjoyed.

Hope you like it?

Harvest moon craft

Harvest moon craft: A cozy way to study the moon and its phases from home. ?

“The harvest moon is the full moon nearest the autumnal equinox (about September 23). Near the time of the autumnal equinox, the angle of the moon’s orbit relative to the Earth’s horizon is at its minimum, causing the full moon to rise above the horizon much faster than usual.”

This week it was “the harvest moon” at #exploringnaturewithchildren and we recreated the moon and its phases with rice and added some glitter stars, M. loved it, O. wanted to join of course! And we were so happy when we spotted the full moon in the sky from the car, on the way back home!

Harvest moon craft

The term “harvest moon” refers to the full, bright Moon that occurs closest to the start of autumn. The name dates from the time before electricity, when farmers depended on the Moon’s light to harvest their crops late into the night.

The Harvest Moon is a sign that autumn is near. Children can feel that change is in the air. Tracking the moon and noticing the different phases is so helpful in grounding children and giving them a sense of rhythm with the Earth.

We always try to learn through nature so our kids grow up connected to the planet, and these activities help us on that mission! Do you like them too? Xx Hope you enjoyed that harvest moon craft!

Nature study

Nature study: So, as I was saying in my last post, we are homeschooling and using a “Mason inspired” curriculum, that means that all the nature study that we already enjoyed together as a family will be more organised now, and I also going to document it better. Last week the theme was “seeds” , and we leaded a water dam to learn about electricity, find some seeds and also start this week’s theme “minibeasts “

And here they are, some pictures that I took to share with you. Hope you like them!

I used my nikon5200 and the lens 18-200, not a bad depth even if it’s not perfect for macros?.

Homeschooling tools

Homeschooling tools: If you are following me on Instagram, you will probably already know that we are going to homeschool again this year, and I am glad to have found https://raisinglittleshoots.com/ it’s going to be one of our main programs, with their weekly themes, and charlotte Mason inspired.

Exploring Nature With Children is a complete, year-long curriculum designed to guide you, step by step, through an entire calendar year of nature study. Completely self-contained, this book has all the information you need to make nature study happen regularly for your family.”

So I bought their book and we started the first theme last week, follow them on Instagram @raisinglittlehoots and their hashtag #exploringnaturewithchildren

Last week theme was “seeds”, so we have studied the life cycle of a seed with an egg carton seed tray, and I wanted to share some pictures of it?

We tried with some peppers, tomatoes, red beans, white beans, lentils, lemons and apples, and here is the result!:

Now they are all ready to be planted in pots! it’s a great activity for toddlers, and also #zerowaste because we are using the egg boxes as seed starters!? Will Show you more about them soon! hope you enjoyed the pictures Xx
