Pierrot paper puppet free template

Pierrot paper puppet free template: today I am going to share a new free printable, the pierrot paper puppet, in order to celebrate shrove Tuesday with your kids tomorrow!

It’s been a long time since I’ve shared a free printable, so carnival it’s the best excuse to do this again! So I created that cute Pierrot paper puppet that you can download for free and assemble it together with your children, they can even color it if they want to!

Why pierrot?

[Pierrot is a stock character of pantomime and commedia dell’arte, whose origins are in the late seventeenth-century Italian troupe of players performing in Paris and known as the Comédie-Italienne. The name is a diminutive of Pierre (Peter), via the suffix -ot. His character in contemporary popular culture — in poetry, fiction, and the visual arts, as well as works for the stage, screen, and concert hall — is that of the sad clown, often pining for love of Columbine, who usually breaks his heart and leaves him for Harlequin]. (Wikipedia source)

It’s a common character when it comes to carnival costumes ideas so I thought that a pierrot paper puppet would be nice to share.

Last year we made harlequin masks, and you can find the post here .

How to assemble your puppet

First of all you’ll need to download the free printable below.

You can glue it to cardboard, and color it, feel free to customize it!

Cut the different parts of the puppet and check that you have: 4 fast fasteners, small macrame rope or threat, a wooden pearl (optional)

Once you have cut all the parts (body/arms/legs) create four small holes and put the fasteners. Then right below these holes, make 4 more holes for the rope (check the photo below).

Add now the rope and the wooden pearl.

Chocolat dipped strawberry hearts

Chocolat dipped strawberry hearts: forget flowers and chocolate boxes, the best treat for Valentine’s day is that seasonal (for southern Europe) treat with fresh strawberries and dipped chocolate. It’s so good you don’t want to miss it, and guess what, you can make a beautiful bouquet with it!

I said seasonal because here in southern France and Spain (I live near the border) we can find the first strawberries in February.

But you can also use frozen strawberries. I always put a few in the freezer during the season so we can enjoy these treats all year long.

Chocolat dipped strawberry hearts

How to make your hearted strawberries

Firstly, you need to wash your strawberry and remove the leaves.

Secondly, start to melt 100 gr of dark chocolate in a double boiling water.

Then you’ll cut the greener part creating a “v” on the top.

Now you can pick your strawberries with wooden sticks.

Finally you’ll dip the top of the strawberries into the melted chocolate.

That’s it! Your sweet and edible bouquet is ready. Don’t forget to let the chocolate cool for an hour or 30 min in the fridge (that will probably be the hardest part! ?).

Check the video below for a small tutorial:

Hope that you liked these chocolate dipped strawberry hearts! For that recipe I didn’t get the girls involved because I wanted to surprise them and I know it would have been hard to wait for the chocolat to cool?

But it’s definitely an easy recipe to make with children too.

Tell me if you try them in the comments!

How to make simple rolled paper roses

How to make simple rolled paper roses: in today’s blog post I am going to show you how to make easy yet gorgeous paper roses with just a sheet of paper than you can reuse to create beautiful flowers that will last forever.

Valentine’s day is coming and I wanted to create a flower bouquet made from paper, because we have different paper sheets that I wanted to recycle.

And I discovered that paper roses are extremely easy and so beautiful, it is definitely the perfect craft for valentine’s day.

It’s also a great idea if you want to craft with your kids, because it involves scissors skills and other fine motor skills. My girls are 3 and 6 and both were comfortable with the activity (always under supervision) and they loved to create these beautiful flowers.

How to make paper roses

So for these roses you just need paper sheets, we used vintage music sheets but you can use old books, catalogs, old paper etc

Draw an spiral and cut following the line.

How to make simple rolled paper roses
Diy paper roses
DIY paper roses

Then you just need to start rolling from the edge to the center.

You will glue the rose into the center of the spiral.

And your rose will be ready! How easy is this? And the result is amazing, I can’t believe I’ve never tried before!

For a more realistic result you can use waved scissors (or cutting a waved spiral).

Paper roses

That’s the final result! You can use them to decorate table centerpieces, or make a wreath with them I am even thinking about hair arrangements with these paper roses! They would be perfect as photo props as well.

For now mine are just decorating my bookshelves because we have been sick all week and we had no energy for something else, but I hope that next week we’ll start crafting again! What are your plans for Valentine’s day, are your celebrating? Tell me in the comments section. ??

Fun coloring cardboard craft idea

Fun coloring cardboard craft idea: in this blog post you’ll find a fun idea recycling cardboards and turning them into jumpers and bonnets, with cute coloring patterns for your kids to practice their handwriting skills and have a great time at home with this activity!

Cold winter days are made for fun indoor activities with kids and the one that I am sharing today was a hit at home, I hope you’ll like as well!

Coloring cardboard jumpers

You just need a big enough cardboard(cereal boxes will work for gloves and bonnets), scissors and markers.

Use a jumper of your kid to copy the “pattern” and the right size for the jumper. Cut and then draw the different patterns with a black marker. Your kid can do that part too if that’s easy enough ??

Then let them choose the colors and start coloring!

Watch the video below to see how we did it ?

My youngest (3yo) loves coloring pages and loved this activity and the oldest (6yo) is not that much into coloring, she prefers drawing better, but that cardboard craft encouraged her to entirely coloring the jumper and bonnet, choosing different color series and patterns.

So I’d say it’s a great activity to practice handwriting skills for preschoolers.

You can find more recycled cardboard crafts in that Instagram guide that I created to group all of them here

DIY valentine’s candles

DIY valentine’s candles: in this blog post you are going to find a cute idea for Valentine’s day, wether you want to surprise a loved one or create your own valentine’s decor, keep reading to know how to make an unique an easy valentine candle.

That craft will be perfect as a handmade gift, as a photo prop or for seasonal decorating your home.

You might remember the New Year’s eve idea that I shared last remember using wax pens (you can find it here). Today you’ll find the Valentine’s day version.

You just need wax pens and a plain candle.

For that one I used a white candle and a red wax pen, drawing hearts on the candle and the text “xoxo” . The cool thing is that you can personalize the candle the way you or the person that will receive it love the most. Cute hearts or customized text, whatever you want to draw!?

If you want to know more about that white candle, it’s the one that I used last year for another easy idea: the “one line” candle holder.

Super simple too, I just used clay marker and recycled a glass container, drew “one line” sketches on it and put the candle inside.

A great way to recycle and upcycle candles and candleholders !

You can see how on the video below ?

Hope that you like these DIY valentine’s candles and that you might give them ago! Commentif you have any Questions!

Unique crêpes ideas

Unique crêpes ideas: the second of February we celebrate la chandeleur in France (Candlemas) and it’s a new tradition at home to find new shapes and recipes to celebrate the holiday of the crêpe. So today I am going to show you three different, unique and delicious ideas for your party crepe!

A few years ago already I shared on the blog my first crepe recipe, trying a vegan one. You can find it here

And three years ago I shared on my Instagram the laced crêpes, shaping the crêpes into different styles like hearts, flowers or even letters! You can find it here

Today I am going to show you three different ones, two sweet and one savory, let’s see which one is your favorite!

Unique crêpes ideas

Crêpes zèbre

The one that I tried last year. You just need to divide the dough in two parts, and add some raw chocolate in one of them. With the chocolate one, you’ll create spirals or other shapes in the pan and then quickly add the regular dough.

Unique crêpes ideas

Gradient crêpes

This year I tried to add new ingredients to change the color of the crêpes, so I used chocolate for dark ones, matcha tea for greener and paprika for pinker ones.

That creates a gradient color that it’s pretty nice and catchy. I styled the way below and my girls loved it! You can obviously use coloring food and make rainbow crepes too.

Unique crêpes ideas

Savory crepes with leeks and goat cheese

I used regular and paprika crepes to make savory ones.

Leave the crepe in the pan and add previously cooked (roasted) leeks. Add some goat cheese and fold the crêpe. Ready to eat!

Even people that usually don’t like leeks adore that one! So tasty, you won’t resist!

Savory crepes

I really hope that you enjoyed these unique crêpes ideas and that you’ll try them! Feel free to leave a comment below! And happy Candlemas ! Bonne chandeleur !

Upcycled sealing wax stamps

Upcycled sealing wax stamps: the ultimate craft for valentine’s day! February just started and if you are a subscriber you already received a newsletter with that craft in “avant-première”. So in this post you’ll find how to make your own sealing wax stamp.

Upcycled sealing wax stamps

Welcome February!

And happy New Year as this is the first newsletter of the year! I really hope that 2023 started well for you!In today’s newsletter I want to send to you a nice DIY perfect for Valentine’s day, I haven’t shared it yet on the different platforms so you are going to be the first to discover it, I really hope that you will like it and maybe you will try to make your own to send beautiful letters to your loved ones!

Upcycled sealing wax stamps:

For these stamps, you just need wine corks and metallic buttons.

What I love the most of that project is that you can use sentimental or heirloom items that you have kept for a special occasion, or those handed down from loved ones.

That DIY is really easy, just glue the button to the wine cork (I used hot glue).

The wine cork might came from a special occasion too, like a wedding, birthdays etc

Once your stamp is ready, you just need the sealing wax.

Melt 1 tbsp of beeswax and add some color from an old crayola, add also a tbsp of glue from hot glue tubes ( and yes! Crayola are made from wax! Longtime ago I shared an easy lip balm recipe using them as well. Find it here.)

Once it’s melted, carefully put a tsp on the envelope and use your upcycled stamp like on the video below ?:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CodGPFXIHwd/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

And voilà ! Your love letter is ready to be sent!

Perfect for Valentine’s day, either you are single or not! You can of course send love letters to family members or friends !

Mini forest cake idea

Mini forest cake idea: the easiest winter treat! In this blog post I am going to show you a cute idea to style a simple yogurt cake or brownie.

I need to be honest when I made the yogurt cake for that blog post I had another idea in mind ? (I might show you the failed result anyway). But then when I saw that it wasn’t working I went for another idea just shaping the cake differently.

So here’s the mini forest cake idea with tiny trees and coconut flakes.

For the trees I used the vegan yogurt recipe that you can find here. It’s my easy to go recipe when I don’t have time and want to make a healthy treat.

Then I cut it into small triangles. Be sure that the vase it’s even so they can stand still.

I added coconut flakes as snow and put also into the plate so that helped to the trees and they didn’t fall.

Just for fun I added a small polar bear and the girls loved it so much!

As the weather this January was snowy here (and that not happens often) they were really excited to discover that healthy treat for breakfast ??. I think it’s a great idea for a winter birthday cake too, even using a layered cake and the trees on the top!

That’s the behind the scenes of how I took the photos of them??. Hope you like it that mini forest cake idea!

Pampas grass decor idea

Pampas grass decor idea: in this post I am going to show you another easy DIY, for home decor this time! Using wild branches of pampas grass to create a lovely bouquet.

Pampas grass decor idea

Pampas grass blooms from September to February and here (South of France) we can easily find them during our winter walks.

As it’s really windy here, you can find broken branches that you can easily cut without even a knife. I only took some broken branches and then checked no insects were there.

Once at home, I sprayed the branches with fixing hair spray.

I arranged the bouquet and added thin fairy lights to it. Hiding the batteries in the vase so we can’t spot them.

I made that bouquet right after putting down the Christmas tree, so we still having a twinkling corner in the living room.

Why is it called pampas grass ?

Pampas grass is named for the Pampas plains, where it is endemic. It is cultivated as an ornamental in warm parts of the world and is considered an invasive species in some areas outside its native range, including New Zealand, South Africa, and the southwestern United States.

How we call pampas blooms?

Plumes. The silver white plumes, sometimes tinted moisturizer pink, are the flowers or inflorescences of this grass plant. The fluffy dense panicles reach 1 to 4 feet long, increasing the overall height of the pampas grass clump. The plumes produce a fountain-like shape and appear from fall through late winter.

Diy pampas bouquet

Do you like that pampas grass decor idea? Have you ever spotted pampas grasses during your walks? They are originally from Argentina and Uruguay Here we have lots around so I am thinking about make more DIY with them because it matches perfectly the earthy tones and rustic decor. I’d love to create a wreath for example!
