My last post was about fashion, let’s talk now about household products.<\/p>\n
It’s been a while since I started to use my own homemade laundry detergent and I’ve just realized that I never save the recipe here in my “journal”.<\/p>\n
At first I started to make my own detergent in order to protect the environment, trying to be more respectful, eco-friendly, avoiding phosphates and using less plastic ( if you make your own home products you’re going to consume less plastic)<\/p>\n
Then I looked at the long ingredient list and slowly learn that not only you won’t need all those ingredients but also that they are toxic chemicals really harmful for health.<\/p>\n
I am not going to list all of them, they are a lot!<\/p>\n
(Sodium Lauryl Sulfate & Sodium Laureth Sulfate\/ Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLS\/ SLES) : <\/strong>surfactants intended to remove soil and as a foaming agent<\/span>,Phosphates: <\/strong>causes high die-off of native marine animal species<\/span>, Formaldehyde<\/strong>, Chlorine Bleach, <\/strong>Ammonium Sulfate, <\/strong>Dioxane (1,4 Dioxane\/ Diethylene Dioxide\/ Diethylene Ether\/ Dioxan), Optical Brighteners\/ UV Brighteners,<\/strong>Fragrance (Unspecified\/ Parfum)…..<\/strong><\/p>\n And the list continues.<\/p>\n This picture helps a lot to understand those ingredients (I’ve found it on Instagram via @loveandlarockessentials talking about fabric softeners and dryer sheets)<\/p>\n So that’s why I love my eco-friendly, harmless (and also inexpensive homemade laundry detergent) because I only need five ingredients:<\/p>\n Soap,Baking soda,white vinegar (softener),salt and Lavender essential oil (not only for a heavenly smell but also because all the proprieties of lavender, antiseptic most of all)<\/p>\n *Ingredients:<\/p>\n -2l water<\/p>\n -90 gr Marseille soap ( a cube that you can grate or you can also buy soap flakes)<\/p>\n -2 tbsp baking soda<\/p>\n -1 tsp salt<\/p>\n -2 tsp white vinegar<\/p>\n -30 drops lavender essential oil<\/p>\n I just need to boil the water, remove from heat and add the soap. Wait for an homogenous mixture and then add the salt and the baking soda. Let rest for the night and then add the white vinegar and the essential oil of your choice.<\/p>\n That’s all, you can use now your homemade laundry detergent.<\/p>\n Enjoy it!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" My last post was about fashion, let’s talk now about household products.
