Pirate themed birthday: free printable invitations

Pirate themed birthday: free printable invitations! Today you’ll find a cute way to create your own pirate themed invitations with step by step instructions and a free template to download!

Ahoy there, mateys! Are you ready for an unforgettable pirate adventure? Well, have I got a treat for you! As a true pirate enthusiast, I’ve created a special design for free printable pirate invitations that will make your little buccaneer’s birthday party the talk of the seven seas!

Picture this: a weathered, treasure map-inspired design, complete with a faded compass rose and an iconic Jolly Roger skull and crossbones. This invitation is guaranteed to set the tone for a swashbuckling celebration like no other. And the best part? It’s available for you to download and print right here:

French version:

To add an extra touch of authenticity to these invitations, let’s give them the weathered, aged look that only a true pirate document would have. Once you’ve printed out the invitations on sturdy parchment-style paper, carefully burn the edges using a lighter or a matchstick. Remember to exercise caution and do this in a safe environment. The slightly singed edges will give your invitations an air of mystery and adventure.

To further enhance the pirate theme, tie a cute ribbon around each invitation. I suggest using a combination of white and red ribbon to symbolize the spirit of piracy. The contrasting colors will give the invitations a vibrant and playful touch.

Now, here’s where we take the authenticity up a notch. Instead of a regular envelope, let’s deliver these invitations in true pirate fashion. Roll up each invitation like a scroll and seal it with your very own handmade sealing wax stamp. You can find a tutorial of my upcycled sealing wax stamps here .
Stay tuned, me hearties, because I’ll be back soon with more pirate-themed ideas to make your little one’s birthday party a legendary affair. Until then, hoist the flag, prepare for adventure, and let the pirate spirit guide you on this fantastic journey!

Handmade thank you gifts and free printables!

Handmade thank you gifts and free printables! In today’s post I’ll share a few ideas for thank you teachers with free printables that you can use to create them!

Thabktyou handmade cards

Last week was a whirlwind of celebrations in our household! We had the pleasure of commemorating Daddy’s birthday, Father’s Day, and witnessing an incredible dance recital that spanned two days with three shows. It was a joyous occasion filled with love, appreciation, and lots of crafting. In this blog post, I want to share the details of the handmade gifts we created for both the dance teachers and Dad, including downloadable templates for you to try at home. Let’s dive in!

Dance teachers gifts ideas

Handmade Gifts for Dance Teachers:
To express our gratitude to the amazing dance teachers who put their heart and soul into teaching and inspiring our little ones, we decided to create these personalized cards: customized chocolate bars and adorable scrunchies.

1. Customized Chocolate Bars:
There’s something undeniably special about a personalized gift, and what better way to show appreciation than with a customized chocolate bar? Using templates that you can download below, we crafted chocolate wrappers adorned with heartfelt messages for the dance teachers. The wrappers read “thank you for help me to grow”

2. Dance-Themed Scrunchies:
For an additional handmade touch, we decided to create dance-themed scrunchies for the dance teachers. These accessories not only serve a practical purpose but also remind them of their incredible impact on our children’s lives. We used the text “Dance teachers like you are ‘tutu’ good to be true.”

Father’s day gifts

Gifts for Dad:
With double cause for celebration—his birthday and Father’s Day—we wanted to make Dad’s day extra special. Alongside the dance recital and the dance teacher gifts, we prepared a few surprises for him.

1. Delicious Brownies:
Knowing Dad’s love for chocolate, we baked a batch of scrumptious brownies. These rich and gooey treats were a perfect choice to satisfy his sweet tooth. They served as a delicious way to celebrate his special day, adding an extra layer of indulgence to the festivities.

2. More customized chocolate bars! That time the wrappers had special messages for father’s day.

3. Keychain Crafted by Little O:
Our little one, O, also wanted to contribute to the celebration. At school, O had made a thoughtful keychain for Dad, capturing their special bond. It was a heartwarming gesture that made Dad’s day even more memorable. The keychain was a token of their love and a reminder of the cherished moments they share together.

Why we loved these crafts

Last week was filled with immense joy and celebration as we commemorated Daddy’s birthday, Father’s Day, and the grand dance recital. We poured our hearts into creating handmade gifts for the dance teachers, including customized chocolate bars and dance-themed scrunchies. Dad was also spoiled with delicious brownies and a heartfelt keychain made by our little one. The festivities brought us closer as a family and served as a reminder of the love and appreciation we have for each other. We hope you enjoyed hearing about our celebrations and feel inspired to create your own handmade gifts for your loved ones.

Remember to download the templates below to try out the customized chocolate bars and dance-themed scrunchies. Let the joy of crafting and celebrating spread far and wide!

Pink beetroot focaccia

Pink Beetroot Focaccia – an easy, original, and delicious treat! ??

I’ve been sharing different Gardenscapes focaccias over the last few years, but it’s the first time trying the pink one! And it’s amazing! A vibrant color with a earthy taste that I love to mix with mint and basil leaves. Here’s the recipe!

The recipe:

Ingredients:
– 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
– 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
– 1 tsp salt
– 1 cup warm water
– 2 tbsp olive oil
– ½ cup beetroot puree (for that lovely pink hue)
– Fresh rosemary sprigs (optional)
– Sea salt flakes (for sprinkling)
– Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Mix well.
2. Make a well in the center and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
3. Add the beetroot puree to the dough and mix until it’s evenly distributed and the color is consistent.
4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
5. Grease a clean bowl with olive oil, place the dough in it, and cover with a damp cloth. Allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
6. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Transfer it to a greased baking sheet or a parchment-lined baking pan.
8. Using your fingertips, gently press the dough to create dimples all over the surface. This will help absorb the flavors.
9. If desired, top the focaccia with fresh rosemary sprigs and sprinkle sea salt flakes over it.
10. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the focaccia turns golden brown.
11. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
12. Sprinkle freshly ground black pepper over the slices for an extra kick of flavor.
13. Serve the pink beetroot focaccia warm and enjoy its unique flavor!

Capture the beauty of your pink focaccia and share the love on Instagram! ? Remember to credit the recipe to your favorite blog.

Tag your foodie friends who would adore this pretty and scrumptious creation! ???????

Pink focaccia with basil leaves

Note: While the color of the focaccia will turn brown during baking, the vibrant pink hue will still shine through, creating a stunning and appetizing presentation. Enjoy the delightful combination of flavors with the added touch of pippermint and the girls’ love for beetroot. Happy baking! ???

DIY diaper cream

DIY diaper cream: An Easy Diaper Cream Recipe That Doubles as a Makeup Remover

Taking care of your baby’s delicate skin is a top priority for parents. Diaper creams are essential for preventing and soothing diaper rash, but they often come with a hefty price tag and the risk of harmful additives. However, I recently stumbled upon a game-changing recipe that not only protects my little one’s skin but also serves as an effective makeup remover. Say hello to my favorite DIY diaper cream recipe, the Olive Oil Oléo-Calcareous Liniment.

The Recipe:

This simple recipe requires only three main ingredients: lime water, beeswax, and olive oil. Optionally, you can also add vitamin E or another preservative for added benefits. Here’s how to make it:

1. Gather the following ingredients:
– 100 ml Lime water
– 4 g Beeswax
– 100 ml Olive oil
– Vitamin E (optional)DIY diaper cream

2. Melt the beeswax using the bain-marie method, which involves placing a heatproof container with the beeswax into a larger pot of simmering water.

3. Once the beeswax has melted, remove it from heat and slowly add the lime water while stirring continuously.

4. For extra nourishment, add a few drops of vitamin E or any other preservative of your choice.

5. Give it a final stir, and voila! Your homemade diaper cream and makeup remover are ready to use.

Using the Cream as a Makeup Remover:

The best part about this DIY diaper cream is that it doubles as a fantastic makeup remover. Here’s how I incorporate it into my beauty routine:

1. Apply a small amount of the Olive Oil Oléo-Calcareous Liniment to a cloth.

2. Gently sweep the soaked pad over your face, focusing on areas with makeup.

3. The natural moisturizing properties of olive oil, combined with the emollient effects of beeswax, work together to remove makeup gently and effectively.

4. Rinse your face with warm water or follow up with your regular facial cleanser to remove any residue.

Benefits of Using the DIY Cream as a Makeup Remover:

By using this DIY diaper cream as a makeup remover, you can enjoy several benefits:

1. Cost-effective: Store-bought makeup removers can be pricey, especially if you prefer ones without harmful additives. Making your own saves money in the long run.

2. Gentle on the skin: The all-natural ingredients in this cream are gentle and suitable for all skin types, making it an ideal choice for sensitive skin.

3. Dual-purpose product: Having a multipurpose product in your skincare routine saves time, space, and money. This diaper cream does double duty as a reliable makeup remover.

Finding a DIY solution that can protect your baby’s skin while also serving as a makeup remover is truly a game-changer. With this easy diaper cream recipe, you can have peace of mind knowing that you’re using safe and natural ingredients. Incorporating this homemade cream into your beauty routine adds an extra touch of eco-friendly and budget-friendly luxury. So, give it a try, and let your skin experience the benefits of this versatile Olive Oil Oléo-Calcareous Liniment.

Egg Birds Observation

Egg Birds Observation: A Wonderful Spring and Summer Activity for Kids plus a free template!

Spring and summer are vibrant seasons when nature awakens, and bird songs fill the air. It’s the perfect time to embark on outdoor adventures with your kids and explore the fascinating world of egg birds.

Nest watching, studying bird eggs found on the ground, recognizing different bird species, and listening to their melodious songs can be both educational and enjoyable for children. In this blog post, we’ll explore this delightful activity and provide a free watercolor template featuring various egg birds that your kids can paint and personalize.

Activities ideas for walks

  1. Nest Watching:
Nest watching is a captivating activity that allows children to observe birds’ behavior up close. Take leisurely walks in parks, nature reserves, or even your own backyard, keeping an eye out for bird nests in trees, shrubs, or on the ground. Encourage your kids to identify different nest types, note the materials used, and discuss why birds choose particular locations. Remind them to maintain a respectful distance and avoid disturbing the nests.
  2. Studying Birds’ Eggs:
While exploring, you may stumble upon fallen bird eggs. Take this opportunity to teach your children about the diverse array of bird eggs and their unique characteristics. Examine the size, shape, color, and patterns of the eggs together. Discuss how eggs vary from species to species and the reasons behind these differences, such as camouflage or temperature regulation. Ensure that any eggs found are abandoned before handling them.
  3. Recognizing Bird Species:
Enhance your kids’ bird identification skills by familiarizing them with the distinct features and behaviors of common bird species in your area. Use field guides, smartphone apps, or online resources to identify birds you encounter during your walks. Pay attention to their coloration, beak shapes, flight patterns, and sounds they make. Engage in fun activities like “I Spy” or creating a checklist of birds to spot during each outing.
  4. Appreciating Bird Songs:
The melodious tunes of birds can be a source of joy and inspiration. Teach your children to recognize different bird songs and calls. Listen attentively during your walks, encouraging them to identify and mimic the sounds they hear. You can find audio recordings of bird songs online to aid in the learning process. Or use “bird net” app recognition bird songs.
  5. Help your kids understand that each species has its unique song, used for communication, territorial defense, and attracting mates.
  6. Free Watercolor Template:
To further engage your children’s creativity, I’ve prepared a free watercolor template featuring different egg birds. Download and print the template, and invite your kids to paint and personalize the eggs in their own unique style. This activity allows them to explore colors, patterns, and express their imagination while connecting with the beauty of nature.

Why you should try these ideas?

Observing egg birds during spring and summer walks is an exciting and educational activity for children. Nest watching, studying bird eggs, recognizing different species, and appreciating their songs can foster a deep appreciation for nature and its remarkable diversity. By encouraging your kids to engage with the natural world, you’re fostering curiosity, creativity, and a sense of environmental stewardship. So grab your binoculars, hit the trails, and embark on an egg-ceptional adventure with your little ones!

Handmade egg-shaped soaps

Handmade Egg-Shaped Soaps: A Delightful DIY Gift for Mother’s Day!

As Mother’s Day approaches in France, it’s time to get creative and show our love and appreciation for the amazing mothers in our lives. What better way to celebrate this special occasion than with a thoughtful and handmade gift? In this blog post, we’ll explore a delightful and easy-to-make DIY idea: handmade egg-shaped soaps. These charming soaps are made using a “melt and pour” mixture, real eggs as molds, and are beautifully presented in a painted egg box. Let’s dive in and create a truly unique gift for Mother’s Day!

Step 1: gather the materials

To get started, gather the following materials:
– “Melt and pour” soap base (available at craft stores)
– Essential oils or fragrance oils of your choice
– Soap colorants or natural ingredients like herbs, spices, or clays for coloring
– Empty eggshells, carefully washed and dried
– Paints and brushes for decorating the egg box
– Optional: dried flower petals, lavender buds, or other botanicals for added beauty

Step 2: Preparing the Soap Mixture
Follow the instructions on the “melt and pour” soap base package to melt the soap in a microwave or double boiler. Once melted, add a few drops of your chosen essential or fragrance oil for a delightful scent. For coloring, you can either use soap colorants or experiment with natural ingredients like turmeric, spirulina, or cocoa powder.

Step 3: Creating the Egg-Shaped Soaps
Carefully pour the soap mixture into the empty eggshells, filling them to the brim. Allow the soap to cool and solidify for a few hours or overnight. Once fully hardened, gently crack the eggshells and carefully peel them away, revealing the beautiful egg-shaped soaps.

Step 4: Decorating the Egg Box
While the soaps are setting, let’s create a stunning presentation by painting the egg box. Use acrylic paints in vibrant spring colors, and let your creativity flourish! Consider adding personalized messages or hand-drawn designs to make it truly special.

Step 5: Assembling the Gift
Once the soaps are ready and the egg box is dry, carefully place the egg-shaped soaps inside the painted egg box. If desired, sprinkle dried flower petals, lavender buds, or other botanicals to add a touch of natural elegance.

Handmade egg-shaped soaps are not only a delightful gift for Mother’s Day but also a wonderful DIY project that combines creativity and love. These soaps, made with a “melt and pour” mixture and using real eggshells as molds, will surely bring joy to any mother’s heart. Don’t forget to add your personal touch by painting a beautiful egg box for presentation. Enjoy the process of creating something unique, and celebrate the beauty of homeschooling and seasonal living this Mother’s Day!

World bee day easy crafts

World be day easy crafts: on 20 May each year bees are celebrated and for the occasion I wanted to share our favorites crafts and recipes that we have done these last years. You can also download a free printable about the honey bee cycle of life and a watercolor bee that I created painted a few time ago.

World Bee Day is important to celebrate because bees play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystems and ensuring food security. It is vital for kids to learn about bees as they are the future stewards of our planet, and understanding the significance of bees can inspire them to protect these incredible creatures and contribute to preserving our environment.T

Today’s crafts ideas are easy and eco-friendly, a great way to start conversations with your kids:

  • 1. Energy bee balls ?

So easy and effective, the kids loved it! To create these delicious bees, you just need to add almond flakes and dark chocolate stripes, aren’t they cute?

Energy balls bees
  • 2. Fingerprints bees

A nice kid activity, they’ll just paint a few yellow fingerprints on a white paper, let it dry and then add the black stripes and wings with markers.

Fingerprint bees
  • 3. Pasta hive

For that one you need the classic pasta macaroni and a cardboard that you’ll cut with an hexagon shape. Then your kids can glue the pasta into the cardboard. We made

Pasta hive
  • 4. Homemade honey playdough

To start, gather the following ingredients: 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of salt, 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1 cup of water. In a saucepan, combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. In a separate bowl, mix the oil, honey, and water. Slowly pour the liquid mixture into the saucepan and stir continuously over low heat until the dough thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Once the dough forms a ball, remove it from the heat and let it cool. Knead the dough on a clean surface until it becomes smooth and pliable. Now you have your homemade honey playdough ready for hours of creative play!

  • 5. Piñata honeycomb

That upcycled honeycomb was the piñata for my little 3rd birthday. You just need to paint a paper lantern with yellow paint and add a few bees (I made them from pasta). Put some small gifts inside ( hairbands, hair clips, erasers, stickers etc). We actually just pull the ribbons to make the gifts felt and kept the lamp because we really loved it!

6. Watercolors and other sketches

We had fun drawing the cycle of life and the anatomy of a honey bee.

7. Bees from pasta!

So easy: you just need to draw the stripes and glue small white paper wings!

DIY Space themed birthday party

DIY space themed birthday party: today I’ll share our handmade space themed birthday party! With different recycled crafts, easy recipes and a free template to download.

Our little girl is not that little anymore and this month we have celebrated her 4th birthday. She asked for a star cake, and one thing to another we ended planing a small space birthday table, and it needed to be upcycled, easy and fun!

To create the table decor we recycled cardboards and bottles.

And for the foodies I planned the birthday cake, energy balls, muffins and also a donut cake that we brought to school for my girl’s teacher and classmates.

DIY space table decors

Cardboard rockets, jet packs, and handmade garland or toppers that I created on Canva and you can download for free on today’s blog post (scroll down).

You can find the blog post about these upcycled space crafts here .

Astronaut jet pack
Cardboard astronaut helmet
Cardboard space rocket

I added a letter board with the text “to the moon and back”:

Wooden letter board
Handmade space garland

We also crafted a cardboard solar system and added different marble balls to recreate the planets. That was a fun way to study the solar system and some fun facts about the space, a great introduction to the topic for kids!

Oh and a cardboard number 4! With foil food wrappings that I reused to create a “golden” number!

Homemade space food ?

For most of the food recipes, I used the carrot cake energy balls and the vegan yogurt cake recipes that you can find here .

  • Carrot cake energy balls as moon rocks and space pop-cakes

I made the carrot cake energy balls again, and used them to make pop-cakes. Then I covered a few with coconut flakes and put them in a bowl as moon rocks.

I also added a bowl with vegan chocolate rochers to make more space rocks.

  • Space invaders cupcakes

With our favorite plantbased yogurt recipe I made these fun cupcakes: I put coconut yogurt as icing and added some smarties, and a gummy inside an upcycled bottle cap.

Space cupcakes
Space cupcakes
  • Star shaped birthday cake

Same recipe: vegan yogurt! Took a round mold and made two pieces of it. With the first one I shaped an hexagon, and froze the leftovers. With the second one I cut the triangles and then shaped the star and covered with coconut yogurt. You know that it’s my favorite icing, sugar free and with an amazing texture. You can easily add food coloring too and it’s perfect if you want to avoid sugar.

Star shaped cake
Handmade cakes toppers

Saturn piñata

We wanted to make another piñata, so I kept the upcycled lamp idea from last year’s. It’s the easiest way to make a piñata and we can reuse them that way!

I just made the ring with cardboard and added a small fairy light garland. That’s the result:

Saturn piñata

Birthday favours

Even though we celebrate her birthday just the four of us, next day in school we brought the donut cakes and birthday favours for her classroom.

For the donuts I used the same vegan yogurt recipe and I added chocolate icing with stars and also hide a few extraterrestrial ones?.

Donut cake

And for the birthday favours I glued the template to scrapbook cards and space patches for clothes these ones. A great alternative to sweet or candies!

You can download here the template for the garland and toppers:

And here the birthday card free template:

And that’s pretty all! Added a black background, some star chips, and Playmobil astronauts. It was so much fun and she loved her birthday party, so I call it a win!

I hope that you also loved the DIY space themed birthday party!

Earth day cupcakes

Earth day cupcakes: today I am going to share two delicious recipes in order to celebrate Earth day with your kids: they are both sugar free, delicious, absolutely eye catching and make beautiful cupcakes!

Earth day is coming quickly now and after our handmade earth day cards (reusing old colors) today I want to show you a new recipe for earth day.

Earth day cupcakes

Muffins recipe (for both recipes)

Remember my bunny cake, moustache cake, bees cupcakes, or even doughnuts? I use to make them with the same recipe: a vegan yogurt recipe:

  • 1 coconut yogurt
  • 1cup olive oil
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1tbsp baking soda
  • 2 ripped bananas ( the original uses 3 eggs)

Preheat the oven 180°c and mix the ingredients. Put the batter into the cupcake molds and bake 180° c/20 min.

Please consider to stop using disposable muffin tins and start using reusable ones: an easy step in order to reduce waste of your household. I am using reusable ones that I put into a mold:

Mix of both (that’s a great option too)

Let’s see now how we made two different stylings from this!

Earth day cupcakes

I actually tried to make the earth day cupcakes three weeks ago, and tried to create a colored batter (green and blue), which turned as a fail, because everything turned brown and even if it tasted good, we couldn’t even notice the earthy vibrant blue and green colors.

That didn’t stopped me and I used my forever favorite sugar free “icing” using coconut yogurt.

I have been using coconut yogurt as a topic for s long time now and we all love it at home, no need to cook it, no butter or sugar added, and an amazing texture soft and thick, absolutely perfect.

So I took two yogurts, added blue food coloring to one and blue and yellow to the other one (kids love to create these colors and they learn about primary colors just cooking!).

First of all I added a layer of blue and then a smaller part of green. No need to be perfect, the result will be nice anyway!

Sprout cupcakes

For that one (easier) and probably my favorite, you will mix a tsp of raw chocolate with one coconut yogurt. That will be the topping.

Add some black chocolate, grated on top, this way it’ll look more like soil. And them add a small branch of basil or mint.

That’s all! Aren’t they cute?

Hope you liked these Earth day cupcakes! Which one is your favorite?
